Do you think congress respects him?

Think about it seriously. The man didn't even do a full run as a senator. Spent no time in the house. The only experience he had before that was at the state level, and none of it executive. He was never mayor or governor, just state congress - the guys nobody can name when they're asked. How many of them, regardless of party, do you think take him seriously when he gets up there to preach at them about how to compromise and write legislation for him to sign? It's like the newbie freshman on the football team telling the Varsity squad how to play.
And how much of that sentiment impacts what gets written and whether it's passed?

  • Somehow "Congress" and "respect" don't seem to go together anyway.

I expect that most of the members of his party DO respect him...after all, they nominated him rather than engaging in a big floor fight at the convention last year.

I expect that the loyal opposition still at least respects the OFFICE.

That sentiment has ALWAYS impacted legislation. With EVERY president. That remains unchanged.

  • They don't really know him he spent most of his time in the Senate running for President. I am sure many in his own party resent a man with no experience getting a job simply because he is a good speaker and got the lemmings to vote for him.

Wow, are you really that stupid? "He was never mayor or governor - just state congress." We'll wait here while you go look up what "state congress" is.
