Should an 8 year old girl be wearing 2" heels to school?

At what age do you think a 2" heel is appropriate? You can see a photo of the shoes in question on my profile. Total of 4" at the back while the "toe" end is completely ground-level (ie: not a platform style). I have also posted a POLL about this just for some extra feedback.
THANKS everybody!

  • A 2" heel is inappropriate for any 8 year old to wear, anywhere. They have growing bones, growing tendons and ligaments that can be easily injured by wearing heels. Ask your doctor or chiropractor about what sort of shoes an 8 year old should wear.

My chiropractor suggests flat soles, moderate arch support, and wide toes for everyone, regardless of age. It's better for your back, digestion, knees, ankles, and neck. Some women find a decrease in headaches when they finally give up the pumps. Amazing what health benefits can occur when just by walking on flat feet instead of up on your tippy toes!

  • the shoes are cute, but I dont think they are appropriate for an 8 yr old. if they still fit her at 10 or 11 then I think they would be ok

  • OH. MY. GOD. i see nothing wrong with these "heels". You make them seem like skinny lil heels that she would look like a hoochie mama in. This is ridiculous. seriously.

  • I would ask a pediatrician what they think, just because it's a wedge style heel. Depending on her growth, it might not be good to not have her foot even. The slant might cause her some problems.

  • I think they look like shoes made for an 8 year old. Am I missing something? I don't see a problem.

  • I might allow her to wear them to church or some other place where I do she would be sating most of the time but not somewhere she could started racing . If she was to started to run around in them she might fall over something and get hurt.

  • A growing child has soft bones that can be permanently damaged by wearing heels.
