capped teeth...

my 2 year old has 4 teeth that are (were) capped. as of this morning, he only has 3. one must have broken off in the middle of the night- i noticed it was missing when he woke up this morning. and i searched high and low for was there when he fell asleep last night, i saw it in his mouth. i think he may have swallowed it. so anyway, i am of course, very upset about it. i called the dentist and he has an appt to be "looked at" next wednesday. the dentist doesnt know if she will fix it, based upon whether or not our insurance will cover it a 2nd time. as crazy as it sounds, i have been checking all of his poopy diapers, because i just wanna know where the damn tooth is. his tooth under the cap is very damaged. he had a hard time eating different things prior to getting the caps, not to mention it looks awful. if insurance doesnt cover it, does anyone think im crazy to pay out of pocket for a new tooth? his dad does.

  • If you do not have tooth fixed can cause harm to adult teeth. If like I said tooth cannot be saved, have space maintainer places or can mess up the way adult teeth errupt later in life. A baby tooth maintains space for baby teeth and allows the adult teeth to come in at right position in mouth. (Depending, teeth can do crazy things though)

  • He is only two.. Depending what tooth is capped he will have for a long time. So best to have recapped. If savable. Other option is to have pulled and have space maintainer placed. But I am not sure which tooth you are talking about. He could have some of these baby teeth till like age 13.
