What was the best/most useful gift you received when your son turned one?

A family friend's son is turning one soon and I have no idea what to get him. He's the youngest of three children all under the age of three so he doesn't really need toys. He has an older brother so he doesn't need clothes either. I usually like to give creative and useful gifts if I can.
Any and all ideas are welcome and hugely appreciated!

  • My parents got my now 14 year old son a little tikes rocking chair. It was so sturdy. We still use it! (I have little ones). My son sat in it to play video games until he was 10. It was the best gift we got at that age.
    I just google it:

  • New sippy cups? New plate/bowl/spoon/fork set? I am not sure what he needs. If they don't have a potty and this is how they trained the others maybe a special potty? Not really sure... a ride on toy that can be pushed?
