GOP "cranks" dominating the debate, agree?

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0909/27015.html

Joe Wilson’s outburst Wednesday night earned more than a personal rebuke from the president and a dagger-eyed gasp from the speaker of the House; it drew winces from Republicans worried that their party is becoming known less for the power of its ideals and more for the pettiness of its vitriol.

“Neither party has an exclusive on wack jobs,” says Republican media consultant Mark McKinnon. “Unfortunately, right now the Democrats generally get defined by President Obama, and Republicans, who have no clear leadership, get defined by crackpots — and then they begin to define the Republican Party in the mind of the general public.”

  • Republicans, who have no clear leadership, get defined by crackpots

This is true, though it may be an unfair characterization. Many republicans I know cannot believe the level the rhetoric has reached. One of my close friends, a lifelong, staunch Republican, feels he no longer identifies with his party at all. And third parties are even more extreme.

and getting more so by the day! I have a relative that feels like her party has LOST their minds, not to mention their souls! But again, with the elected officials giving credence to the wack-a-doo fringe, it only emboldens them further.

  • To begin with, Wilson is a member of the Southern heritage group, Sons of Confederate Veterans, which favors secession and defends slavery. As a state legislator, Wilson went against his own party and voted with seven lone right-wingers to keep the Dixie Rebel flag flying over the South Carolina state capitol building. As a federal lawmaker, Wilson became a member of the House Immigration Reform Caucus (HIRC), a group of (mostly Republican) representatives founded by former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-CO) with the mission of stopping “the explosive growth in illegal immigration,” “reversing the growth in legal immigration,” and halting “amnesties

  • Sweet...really? The MEDIA got that man elected. Even YOU have to admit they played the BIGGEST roll in making that happen. They Adored him, blocked every negative thing that touched him, and made charactures of the GOP candidates. It was HUGELY biased.

Looking around the room to see who defended Code Pink..(anyone??anyone??)...

And that wasn't the POINT...the POINT is that there are crazies on BOTH sides but I don't see the MEDIA painting ALL libs with the same brush as code pink!
