Whats your policy on junk food?

Do you believe children should not be fed any kind of junk food? Is moderation your motto? Are your kids diets nothing but junk food? I have a 3 year old boy, a 2 year old girl, and one due in October and our policy is that our kids can eat what they want. I don't see anything wrong with letting my own kids eat what they want because they eat junk in moderation. They love fresh fruits and veggies so when they ask for a cupcake (or whatever sweet they want) I don't see any reason to deny them.

  • Yep, I am just like you OP. My dd loves healthy stuff so if she wants some french fries she can have the stupid things. it won't kill her.

  • We're all about moderation in our house.

Yesterday, my kids didn't get any junk food at all and today we're going to make brownies from scratch.

  • yes we eat junk, and sweets in moderation. we dont have alot of junk in the house because I am on a never ending diet. I think the biggest junk food at the moment is otter pops for my son, and a cheesecake. its not like we eat the whole cake at once, its for after dinner. We havent had soda in the house in a while, but I will let him have a sprite when we go out. Everything in moderation. He loves fruits and veggies too. and drinks tons of water

  • When I give my DD a snack, it's always of fruits, or something else equally healthy. After dinner I give her a "treat". like half a cookie, or maybe part of a cupcake, or something similar, if she's been a good girl all day long. She's 20 months old, so right now, it's not really a huge issue for us... especially since she loves fruits and veggies.

  • My children have junk food very rarely. Although I am a bit more lenient with homemade baked goods, I don't consider them as much as a junk food as soda, chips, store bought cookies and candies. I know what's in the home made baked goods and it doesn't include HFCS, preservatives, and dyes.

  • My 14 month old doesn't eat a lot of junk food...well, she doesn't eat ANY junk food. Except for an occasional hotdog. I'm trying to keep her from it as long as possible. I want her eat bite of food she takes to be a nutritious as possible. But, when the time comes that she wants a cookie or something, I'll teach her moderation.
