over the holidays what is the dish you made that gets the most compliments and how do you make it?

  • Mac and cheese 1 pound elbow macaroni pasta
    1 cup whole milk
    2 cans (12 oz. size) evaporated milk
    3 eggs
    2 sticks butter, cut into small pieces
    1/2 pound Colby cheese, shredded
    1/2 pound Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
    1/2 pound sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
    1 pound Velveeta cheese, cut into small chunks
    Salt, to taste
    1 tablespoon white pepper
    1 tablespoon sugar
    1 cup shredded American or mild cheddar cheese

    Directions:
    Heat oven to 350F. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and transfer the pasta to a 9×13-inch casserole dish. Set aside.

    cook for 45 minutes

  • eggnog mashed potatoes
    just add eggnog instead of milk
    they are so good...yummy !!!

  • Frosted Sweet Potatoes

    2 cans (40 oz each-the largest ones) sweet potatoes-drain but reserve 1/2 c. syrup
    4 tbs margarine
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
    8 servings mashed potatoes (use instant-make according to package directions)
    2 eggs

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray glass 13x9 pan with cooking spray; set aside.
    Melt margarine in a large skillet. Add brown sugar and 1/2 of the reserved syrup and the cinnamon. Cook 2 minutes. Add sweet potatoes and the rest of the syrup. Stir to glaze & cook 3 minutes. Pour into prepared baking dish.
    Beat eggs and add to mashed potatoes. Frost sweet potatoes with this mixture.
    Bake approx 30 minutes or until bubbly & top layer is browned.

  • Cheesecake... I'm a Pastry Chef turned SAHM, so I have a million of them!
    Dressing- apples, cornbread, sausage, herbs, cranberries,etc...they love it.
    Mashed Potatoes- Goat cheese or mascarpone cheese, sour cream, butter, heavy cream
    We fry a turkey and smoke a ham for Thanksgiving...Christmas is at my BIL's house.
