  • Wherever you go, there are a few basics that you'll need to get started.
    1. A paper trimmer - trust me, no one can cut a straight line!
    2. Dry adhesive - not regular glue!
    3. Sharp thin scissors such as paper snips or cutterbee.
    4. A mat to protect your work surface.
    5. You want to make sure whatever you use is acid and lignin free. I have info on my scrapbooking site if you want to check it out. http://scrapandstyle.com/faq.htm Check out the before and after page too.

When you begin, take your photos with you and then pick out your paper. That way, you won't spend a ton of money on paper you'll never use.

  • Journal, Journal, Journal!! What you write on the pages for your children and future generations to read is much more important than any fancy embellishments you could add. And so it lasts generations you'll want to make sure your papers and scrapbook are all acid and lignin free like the poster above me said. Watch out! Scrapbooking can become addicting!! :-)

  • It depends on what you want the scrapbook to look like. Basically you'll need all your supplies to be acid free so it wont fade the color of your pictures. You'll need of course a book, some extra pages,markers/colored pencils(whichever you prefer), acid free glue or picture tape( again whichever you prefer),scissors(dont use them for anything but your scrap booking). Other than that everything else is optional like stencils, stamps, paper stock, stickers, embelisshments, fancy scissors, and etc

  • Oh there is so much stuff you can buy!! But if you have a Joann's, Archivers, or Michaels or a craft store by you check into taking one of there classes on scrapbooking. They are usually about an hour a two for a class and they give you the basics of how to put the pages together and then you can build on that as you get comfortable plus you wont get into spending a lot of money on things you might not need!! Good luck!!

  • Depends on how fancy you want to get. If you want to go simple. You'll just a scrapbook and an adhesive (i use tape but you can use glue or a glue stick, glue dots ... ). Then pictures and you could get stickers. It's easier when you get all your pics ready in order and do one page at a time and plan it out on paper ahead of time. If you want to get fancier you could add embellishments. If you go to DIY.Net ... they have a whole bunch of differnt ideas from their scrapbooking show. They break it down into steps for you and have templates. Plus they have a video. Good luck -- it's fun and way addicting!
