Baptist question

i'm a christian and im 30 weeks pregnant now my grandmother is a member of a lutheren chruch would it be wrong to get him baptist there..i know my chruch will do a dedication instead of the tradtional baptistism but im just wondering if i did both would it matter?

  • why would you want to baptize your child in a church you didn't attend/hold membership in? part of baptisms/dedications are also directed to the fellow church members, and their responsibility to help/support the baptised this case, the family, too.
    baptising just to console a grandparent's wishes (or any other family member who attended a different church than your own) is, well, kinda silly.

  • Your choice. My opinion? Baptism is for people who are aware and cognizant of the action they are taking, i.e. older children and adults. Dedication is more appropriate for a baby or child, because it is an act of promising to raise the child with knowlege of god.
