  • Group B Strep does not cause itching. GBS is a common digestive flora, which can be found in the vagina of many women.

There is more than one way to treat vaginal GBS before birth. If your treat GBS at home (which is my personal recommendation), request to be retested so you don't have to be on IV antibiotics during labor. Here is a great resource for that: http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/gbsAlt.html.

As for the itching, did it start after you tested positive or before?

  • i have read that the antibiotics don't even make a difference in the number of babies that get sick/die from GBS! really makes me regret having my IV during labor, since antibiotics are really all that great for new born babies to have in their system IMO. so you might want to do more research before you make up your mind on the antibiotics.

    good luck!
