Cabbage! I have a small head of cabbage and need an idea for dinner!

I would usually cook it with a hambone (no hambones left now) or make stuffed cabbage rolls (head is not big enough) so I haven't a clue what I can do with it.

Any thoughts? Thanks!!!!

  • easy "stuffed "cabbage
    cut cabbage into 1 inch chunks after coring and blanch in boiling water for aboy 5 minutes.
    Brown a pound of cround beef with a diced ionion and some garlic add some tomatoeas (crushed,diced,pureed, sauce whatever) and season like you would stuffed cabbage and add a cup of rice and some water and the cabbage into a cassarole dish ( I LOVE the enameled cast iron to brown and bake!) anyway add some water and cover and bake for 45 minutes to an hour. enjoy!

  • I would cabbage soup with some chopped carrots, onions and potatos. Soup and sandwich or salad dinner sounds good to me...hmmm....

  • Yes what Amy said :) Or you could try this

    Ingredients

    * 1/2 large head of cabbage, roughly chopped (or an entire small one)
    * 1 large mild onion, chopped
    * 1 lb smoked sausage, cut into 1/2-inch circles
    * 3-4 large potatoes, scrubbed and cut into 1/4-inch slices
    * 1 cup chicken broth
    * 1 dash seasoning salt
    * 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    * 1 dash pepper

    Directions

    1.
    1
    Heat pan and add onion, smoked sausage, and potatoes. Season with the seasoned salt lightly (because the smoked sausage is salty enough), and add the paprika. Cook and stir over medium heat until potatoes are cooked about halfway through.
    2.
    2
    Next add the chopped cabbage and 1 cup of chicken broth. Cook, stirring occasionally until cabbage is crisp-tender and most of the liquid evaporates.

  • I don't know the recipe, but I have a friend that chops it up and bakes it in a pan with onions and chunks of potatoes with butter. It is so good.
