Ever notice how people name their kids like people name their AKC dogs?

Their full name and then the name that they will actually call them. Why not name them what you will call them rather than a different version?

Der Hagen's Gimme Money Honey ( Dinar )
Vom Blue's Ms Contessa Independence ( Tessa )
Duke's Solid Gold Mistake (Missy)

Jackson Allen Carpenter (Allen()
William Edward Boyer (Bill)
Clayton Elmer Stutsman (Clay)

  • I had the hardest time when a woman came into my office, and she had named her son EXACTLY THE SAME NAME as my pedigreed dog, right down to the spelling. What made it, worse was my dog was a female. LOL

  • I hadn't thought of that until my niece had a baby - she named him George Dee Gann Hearnden - and my mom says they call him "Buddy" - honestly, I thought "well, what's his pedigree". But I'm as guilty - I had a rottie named PV & JJs My Rott Torine's Desert Sky - we called her Myra. Don't ask - I was young and not so smart... LOL

  • Well, in your example, Bill & Clay are just shortened versions of their given names, and Allen was the middle name, so at least the names they are calling them are in there somewhere! I have a friend that names her son Leighton and she calls him Bubba! My kids are Thomas, Hannah, & Peyton- and that's what we call them!

  • MJ's kids were all named like dogs, Prince Micheal called Buttons, or something stupid like that.

  • I hate it when someone names their kids a name then call them by their middle name. I mean sure if you have a 'Junior" situation I can see it but my sister did this & the kids isnt a junior. Makes no sense. Just make the first name what you intend to call the kid!

  • MJ's kid is called "Blanket" which is really more stupid then "Buttons" IMO

  • I call my older child a nickname because he has his father's name. It gets confusing to yell their name and have them both answer. The school calls him by his real name, though. Besides, I enjoy the endearment Of a nickname. :)
