why do you get injections in the deltoid and the gluteal?

I'm taking a Medical Assistance Class and the teacher wanted us to ask people why they get those injections.

  • They are larger muscles and tend to work the meds in as you will be walking or using your arms thru out the day.

  • Some meds are more caustic and require a deeper and larger mass of muscle to disperse so as not to irritate the surrounding tissue.
