Has years of smoking crack cost Whitney her voice?

Just watched her new video "I Look To You"..... she doesn't sound like Whitney Houston anymore. Sounds more like Aretha Franklin to me. I know they can mix a lot and compensate for pitch, etc - I saw her live performance on Good Morning America - she did sound like she was sick during that performance so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. She still sounds well enough to listen to - but just not the same.

Is is just my ears - or has our Whitney's voice completely changed?

  • She definitely does not sing as well as she used to. I agree she sounds different.

  • I did not think of that, but I guess you are right. I did not like her when I saw her singing last week.

  • Well, I am sure that it has changed her voice. She's a little rusty but I think she still sounds good and she looks absolutely beautiful! She will probably never have that iconic voice she used to have, but I am glad to see her back!
