Do wars occur every ten years?

USA had direct or indirectly involvement with:
World War I, 1917
World War II, 1941
Korean War, 1950
Bay of Pigs Invasion, Cuba, 1961
Vietnam War, 1962
Cambodian Civil War, 1970
Contra War, El Salvador, 1981
Persian Gulf War, Iraq, 1991
War on Terrorism, 2001

Would this mean that another war is "due" for the next couple of years?

  • Well, even your list has a 30 year break after WWI- wouldn't that disprove your point?

  • I think you left out a few...Somalia, Serbia, Grenada are a few that come to mind.

There are always wars going on, the only thing that changes is who is involved and how long they last.

  • Bay of Pigs was a teeny invasion that lasted just a few days. The Vietnam war began in the 1950's and we had men there as "advisors"..heh. But we were IN IT from the 1950's until 1975. Wars are going on all the time and occasionally they tell US about it.

  • You're definitely leaving some out.

To answer your question, though, no we aren't due for another war in the next couple of years. We are still at war. Two of them. Operation Iraqi Freedom in Iraq and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afganistan.
