  • Hopefully never because that is part of being a caregiver as well as a major part of the child's development. A child is designed to be held during feeding time.

  • They never did. We taught them to hold and use their own sippy cup at 6 months though.

  • A child is also "designed" to do things on their own too. You don't HAVE to hold them during feeding time. My son held his bottle by himself and I still held him but didn't feed it to him cause he wanted to do it by himself. I know children who don't like being held..

  • wow i didn't mean to start anything, my son is 8 months old but doesn't hold his bottle. he does pretty holding his sippy. My mom thought it was weird that he didn't hold his own bottle so i was wondering about other babies thats why i asked the question.

  • You didn't start nothing kelka24. Just kinda got me irritated when she said the children were "designed" to be held. some babies like holding their own bottle and some just don't do well with bottles. maybe you should just have him on the sippy cup :)
