  • Go outside and look at plants and bugs, and talk about them. Dig for worms, play in a sandbox (kids learn about physics and fluid dynamics playing with sand). Go to the zoo and see and talk about the animals. Play with play-doh, play with water, play with things that fit inside other things, things that stack, etc. Examine the world.

  • Wow. I am babysitting my 20 month old granddaughter and I am wondering the same things. Here is what I am doing: Reading, letting her draw and play with playdough and when we go shopping I am showing her items in the store and telling her what they are- we are working on getting her to speak. She doesn't talk much right now. Otherwise, she won't watch TV at all.

  • Go for a color walk (name everything and its colors), go for a counting walk (count the leaves, trees, bugs, etc.), go for a nature walk (talk about the living things around you and what noises they make, etc.)

  • Just playing is educational. Label everything, point out colors, numbers, letters, etc.

  • Yes start easy with colors and shapes. Food is a great place to begin....crackers are square, well, or really, cirlces....strawberries are red, carrots are orange. Cut bologna or toast with alphabet cookie cutters.
