Every new mom and wife needs gift cards, so if they haven't registered anywhere, its a good back up. I don't think its ever rude to ask what the bride/mother to be needs, and maybe that would be a good direction to go with things.

A Wal-mart gift card would be a good gift, then she could get what she needs.

The gift card is ALWAYS great for bridal but I give a case of diapers for baby because no one really grasps the concept of how many diapers one little person can go through and how they always need them when you are out of money:) I really don't get a genuine thank you until a month after the birth.

Aspirin lol. But really, if they're registered, stick to the registry and make sure you give them the gift receipt. Don't get clothes, everyone else is going to get her clothes. Something useful like a baby bath tub or a diaper genie is cool.

I like putting together baskets. You could to diapers and baby lotions, then for the bridal part of it you could put a bottle of wine, and some candles, and bubble bath. Every new mom or wife loves a bubble bath and a glass of wine.
