if your giving a friend a gift card for her b-day how much should one give?

onlt because it was mentioned as an idea to one of the cafemom's . and I never thought of that and thought it was a great idea for my mother in law.

  • I'd say that it depends on your budget. I always tell my kids not too spend too much they're not married, but have girlfriends. Any amount at a place she shops should be appreciated. If money is not an issue, I agree that $50 for MIL, and $25 for a friend would be pretty standard.

    Ask your husband what he thinks. He probably knows how she feels. Again, I never think that you should spend more than you can comfortable afford for a gift. I'd feel terrible if someone spent money they needed on a gift for me.

    Give what your budget can afford!!

  • For mother in law I say atleast $50. A friend $25. IMO
