dumb question about being dilated ?

But how do the doctors check if your dilated? i've seen all the diagrams and charts of the measurement of being dilating but how can they tell and when do they check if your dilated ?

  • All i know is that they find ur cervix and use their fingers to measure it...not really sure how to tell what is the cervix though...hope this helps some...

  • My doc let me fill it you should ask your doc to show you where it is so that you can fill it. You can fill a dif in how dilated you are.

  • The cervix it the round object at the very back of your vagina, the Dr. or nurse will insert two fingers in the vagina and based on how wide they can spread their fingers and still feel the cervix, tell them how far dilated you are. An example, if you take your finger and push on the tip of your nose, you will feel an indentation, that's about what one cm feels like, they spread their fingers in a circular motion. Hope this helps a bit more.
