How do i prevent sliced apples from getting dark?

Every time I slice apples, for salad or just for later use, its color always change, it becomes brown. I knew that lemon juice could make it at least retain its fresh look. But still it darkens.

  • organic apples take a lot longer to get dark

  • me too, mine get dark no matter how much lemon juice you use. but i have noticed some apples get browner quicker than other varieties. Fuji's seem to last the longest and Washington State Red's seem to brown the fastest. Who knows......

  • I mix lemon juice with a little water and let them soak. They will stay crisp for about 2 days. Let them soak longer. They wont last forever anyway. usually 24 hrs they will start turning even after they have soaked.
