  • I add a tablespoon of hot coco mix, it gives them a little something to make them extra special, but keeps it simple enough not to overpower your taste buds.

  • I sometimes like to use coffee in place of any water. Chocolate chips, nuts, marshmellows, M&M's, crushed Oreos, Crushed Butterfinger Candy, Junior Mints, Reese's Pieces, Ande's baking pieces or crumbled Ande's mints, crumbles Reese's Peanutbutter cups, pretty much any candy, dehydrated fruits, crushed candycanes...

  • I ran across a recipe that takes a brownie package to a whole nother level of oh my!! Dry brownie mix, poured on top of 1 stick butter (melted) in glass pan (13 x 9) Add 1 cup choc chips, 1 cup butter scotch chips (just scatter across top) 1 cup coconut (flaked) 1 cup chopped pecans and 1 can sweet condensed milk, bake at 325 til edges are bubbly, let cool, cut into bars (this is similar to magic cookie bars)

  • Return the mix and make real brownies: This is, without a doubt, the finest browie recipe (of course, I make a couple of substitutions) :

4 squares Bakers unsweetened chocolate (I use whatever fair trade chocolate I can find
1.5 sticks of butter (I usually use Earth Balance)
2 cups sugar (succant gives these a really nice flavor)
    3 eggs or egg substitute
1 tsp vanilla (I usually substitute about a tablespoon of good, dark rum; this really gives these a nice, rich flavor)
1 cup flour (I use whole wheat pastry flour)
optional: 1 cup chopped pecans (I usually use 1/2 cup of nuts and 1/2 cup of dried cranberries)

    cont.
