baby constipated!!!!

she poops but is getting harder and she has done it 3 times today her poop is not that thick but she struggles to get it out...she started on solids and im worried...what can i give her to get rid of it dr. said apple juice and tried it but is hasnt worked please help.....what can i do?

  • First, back off the solids. They should be secondary to her formula or breastmilk.

    Keep up the liquids and NO solids till she's regular again. A glycerin suppository can help for now.

    When you reintroduce solids, they only FOLLOW her liquid diet. Breastmilk or formula remains her main meal.

  • Rice cereal is constipating. Try another type of cereal grain like oat or wheat.

  • Only give her solids as practice and for "dessert" after BM or formula.....don't give any type of cereal, it's very can get some baby food prunes. It worked great on my daughter...

  • dr. spock's baby book recommends 1/2 tsp sugar diluted in 2 ozs water - worked for me with my dd, also sorry if it's TMI but try inserting some vaseline around the inside of her little bum, use your pinky.
