You see the spiral fall, you see them going to a place that is dark...

what can you do? Throwing God around too much will make them resent you but if you see a love one making very bad choices what can be done? The person doesn't care about their own body or how they treat others? It hurts to watch a love one go this direction, but if you help you will pull yourself down? Why won't God just thrust his mighty hand down and make this person do the right thing?

  • I know what you mean. My DH has a 15 year old nephew that is going the same direction. He is angry that his parent's divorced. His mom left him and his brother when he was only months old. She didn't forget to take the good silverware though. He resents his step-mother because she clearly doesn't care. He admitted to his therapist that he was drinking ajax liquid. We all feel so bad. His father doesn't seem to concerned. I don't know maybe he is at his wits end. I told my Dh all we can do is pray for him and for his father to do the right thing.

  • Because he can't or won't. It's part of his ultimate plan that you can't see the whole picture of and you have no right to question his decisions. This is a trial for your loved one and them alone. All you can do is pray that at some point he willstep in. Like he did for Abraham when he took his son to the top of the mountain to kill him. Either that or maybe he doesn't exist.

  • Because God gives us a choice. If he bailed us out of everything we did wrong would we ever learn anything? God does let us learn from our wrongs like any good parent would have to do for their children. It hurts to see our children going through avoidable pain and trouble, but it's the way we learn to face the consequences. If we repent of our sins, ask for forgiveness and seek His will in our lives, He can bring the good out of any bad situation. You have to seek him with your heart. If you don't want it, you won't get it.

  • This is where faith takes over. Pray without ceasing. It may take days, months, or years but God answers the prayers of the faithful. Add them to a prayer chain and have others pray as well. God is still God even though we don't get our prayers answered in our time. He sees the big picture and we can only see the here and now. He always has a purpose and a plan. Be comforted by his promises in the Bible

  • Because God gave EVERYONE free will to fuck their life up anyway they want, without God interfering.

  • My answer--well, obviously because he's NOT up there in any way, shape, or form. He can't put down a hand that doesn't exist. The religious answer--because Jesus died as a sacrifice so that god could STOP burning up sinful cities, or slaughtering entire Israelite families for dancing around a golden calf, or create catastrophic floods in order to FORCE people to believe in him. He died to give us a choice. I know how hard it is to watch someone you love deliberately destroy themselves by making one bad choice after another. But their path is in their hands now. However it ends, it will have been their choice, just as your path is YOUR choice. And your own choice is the only one you can control. And that's just the plain truth.
