Are you afraid of Doctors?

I used to have terrible 'white coat' syndrome. My blood pressure would spike as I pulled up to the doctor's office. I was always afraid they would tell me I have some terminal disease. Ten years actually passed before I started visiting the doctors regularly. I have changed. I think preventative medicine is the best, so I get my yearly checkups now. The first time I got diagnosed with high blood pressure was at my yearly pap and pelvic exam. Then this past summer when I went for my yearly physical, they found I had Group B strep. So, yeah it's definitely a plus that I have overcome my fear.

  • I get agitated and irritable with doctors, but afraid of them - no, I'm probably more confrontational with them than I should be. I've seen too many who either didn't care or didn't seem as adept at diagnosis as a doctor should be.
