Can you buy life insurance for an unborn baby?

Like, just in case you have a stillbirth or a miscarriage? This may be a dumb question. But its something that came to my mind.

  • I don't believe you can as you generally need a social security number to set up the account. Also, depending on the amount of insurance you get, you often need a physical examination. Obviously you can't do a physical exam on someone who isn't born yet.

  • since babies/children don't earn an income you don't need life insurance on them... just save some money if ever needed for burial expenses... but also you would need a ss#
