Is out of date xanax ok to take?

  • No medication, whether it be prescription or over the counter is safe to take after the expiration date.

  • After a year the active ingredient in any medicine just breaks down so I don't think it would work anyway. You could call a pharmacist to see but I don't think it's any good now

  • I don't think it will do anything bad - I just don't think it will work as well (or possibly at all). I'd call a pharmacy and ask.

  • Um, yes that would be bad, it could kill you. There is a reason meds expire. Why do you have meds sitting around that are that old? Go to the doctor and get a new prescription.
