What's the silliest thing you worried about when you were a new mom?

I remember being absolutely terrified that I would break my daughter's arms while changing her. I also obsessed about her sleep habits. I didn't sleep more than two or three hours that first week, oi!

  • That he would drown in the bath. When i soaped him up he was so slippery. I would freak out that he was going to just slide right out of my arms and drown.

  • That he would stop breathing. he was a preemie and had A's and B's. Apnea's and bradicardias.

(he would stop breathing and then his hear t would stop)

He was sent home with out a monitor.

He coded on me twice after he went home and he still did not get a monitor.

I held him for the first six month and did not sleep..i rescued him twice so I felt that his life depended on my awareness to do CPR anytime night or day.

  • Not silly but I worried about SIDS a lot.

  • I remember during my first pregnancy, I constantly had dreams that I had forgotten to feed my baby. Like, he was two weeks old and I had never fed him. I think it was just anxiety about knowing how to nurse. Once my babies came, I didn't really have any irrational fears, but I did worry about SIDS all the time.

  • There were so many things...but the funniest was when my husband and I decided to cut our newborns (he's 3 yrs now) finger nails and we were both so nervous. My husband ended up nipping one of his little fingers and we both freaked out and took him to the emergency room.....the nurses just sort of rolled there eyes put a band-aid on it and sent us on our way.

  • SIDS creeped me out. I checked on both my babies a million times until they learned to roll over.

  • Germs: I sanatized everything. Boiled every glass bottle and nipples. By the third I just used a bottle brush and hot soapy water and rinsed.
