19 month old sick

My 19 month old daughter is sick and has been for almost 2 weeks. She has a BAD runny nose, and cough, and when she lays flat its hard for her to breath, she has slept in a chair with me the past 3 nights. I have tired allergy meds but it doesnt seem to help. Her nose is running so bad that i am using a snot sucker at least one an hour. Her temp is a little below normal, but i just feel awful that she cant sleep good, and now today, her snot has blood in it. Not alot, but it comes out every time i suck out her nose. Is there ANYTHING i can do. I know there isnt nothing OTC that will help but i dont want to take her to the dr. if there is nothing he can do. What can i do to help her feel better?

  • A cool mist humidifier is always good. If she has a little blood in her snot it may be from dry air. Do you use gas instead of electric? If so a cool mist humidifier is a good idea for the winter. It will help is baby has phlem (sp) too. Tylonal will help with any aches she's having. Hope your babe feels better.

  • Vasoline under her nose& around her nostrils is good so she doesnt' get raw.

  • So sorry. Taking her in the shower may help get her nose all cleared out.

  • are you nursing? If so you can put BM up the nostrils and that will help a lot with runny nose
