  • Wicked is good, gives a very interesting spin on the Wizard of Oz story.

  • Anything by Dean Koontz is great, Sophie Kinsella is a good author, her stuff is light and fluffy and entertaining to read.

  • For a Romance book - Nora Roberts (I own a number of her books)
    Romance/Thriller - Catherine Coulter
    Mystery - Mary Higgins Clark
Fantacy - Mercedes Lackey (I own 80% of her books)
Another idea would be to go to your local library and just start looking for something that stands out to you.

  • The Lovely Bones and Water For Elephants were both good books.

I've heard good things about "Reading Lolita in Tehran", but I haven't read it myself yet. I did like what I saw when I browsed it though.

I also like the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher (think Harry Potter crossed with Sam Spade or similar "detective noir" novels), the "Weather Warden" series by Rachel Caine, The Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, and the Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich.

    (Among MANY MANY others...)
