  • When your water breaks it breaks no matter if your lying down or standing or walking or whatever. Mine broke laying down.

  • I have seen some ROM studies, but have never seen anything scientific about what position a mother is in when it happens.
Usually it breaks while she's heavily in active labor, but sometimes before, or sometimes never (born en caul).
And sometimes moms don't know until later when they've been leaking a while... later they figure it out. If this is pre-labor that is 10%.

  • You can get a shower curtain liner at Target or where ever for 2 or 3 dollars and put it under you sheets.
I was gushing for over a week and only put down several towels under me in the bed, and LOTS of maxi pads.

  • i have read that it's impossible to get out of mattresses! we risked it but my water broke during the day thank goodness. (last week, however, our dog peed on our bed and we could not get the smell out! grrr). um so you might want to follow doulala's advice! ;)
