How does any American not know this?

Our Lexington radio station does a morning show. While driving to work this morning they did a game where they called a random Waffle house and ask a question. If the employee gets the message right then one Lexington caller wins a gift. The question today was "Who was the first American President?" Pretty easy right? WRONG. The Waffle house employee had no idea who the first President was. He couldn't even guess. Now, I would assume that someone working at Waffle house at least has a 9th grade education. Even my 7 yr old daughter knows who the first President was. How can our education system neglect to teach at least the basic American history to our students?

  • Oh my goodness try watching Jaywalking with Jay Leno where he asks basic questions. The answers are pretty funny! Amazing how idiotic some people can be. He asked a college graduate what was at the address of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and she couldn't answer that!

  • Only so much can be blamed on the educational system. This guy is just an idiot. Blame his genetics.

  • Actually there were 7 presidents before George Washington. John Hanson was the first - elected in 1781 then Elias Boudinot (1783), Thomas Mifflin (1784), Richard Henry Lee (1785), Nathan Gorman (1786), Arthur St. Clair (1787), and Cyrus Griffin (1788) - all prior to Washington taking office. teeheehee
