Would McCain have been better?

Glenn Beck thinks President Obama is better for the country than John McCain would have been, he said in an interview with Katie Couric to air at CBSNews.com Tuesday evening.

"I think John McCain would have been worse for the country than Barack Obama," Beck told Couric in the debut episode of her new web show, @katiecouric.

Beck's comment came in response to Couric's question about Hillary Clinton, who Beck said he may have even voted for had she been the Democratic nominee against John McCain.

"I can't believe I'm saying this," Beck said, "I think I would have much preferred [Hillary Clinton] as president and may have voted for her against John McCain."

He described McCain as "this weird progressive like Theodore Roosevelt was."

The full interview airs at CBSNews.com Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.

  • Seriously? Omg, YES! While McCain was definitely not my first choice, he would NOT have made some of the mistakes that Obama has made. Obama has done pretty much everything he said he would do. A lot of people say that he hasn't, but really, if you'd studied everything, including his past voting records, you'd see that he has. That is precisely why I knew before the election that McCain would have been a better choice. Ask this question in another 3 years, and i have a feeling you'll get many more "yes" responses. Almost anyone would have been better than Obama.

  • well Obama hasn't even given a chance, let him serve his years peacefully. im sure he will do what he thinks best. we will never know if mccain woulve been better. things decrease when u get older. i dont think mccain wouldve functioned as much as obama. but idk what to judge, i dont know ALOT about either, but i do know me and obama got something in common we both think Kanye is a jackass

  • Yeah, I would have voted for her. Even though I don't care for her much. I saw her in some interviews that caught my interest a while back.

  • Hmm... I have to watch this. After all the crap Glenn has said, and he thinks McCain would have sucked worse? Is this driven by his concern for all his past sponsers?

I don't want to give Glenn any more credence after all that he has spewed, and here I am, getting sucked in.

Since I voted for Obama, I can safely say that I feel he was a better choice than McCain. However, had it been between Hillary and McCain, I would have had to ponder even further. They are more similiar than people realize.

  • I was thinking about this after I answered, and as I used to watch Glenn regularly, he was never a big McCain supporter. You all who still watch, correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall him having the warm fuzzies about McCain.

  • IDK...IMO they were both pretty crappy. We really didn't have a good, viable option for President this time around.

  • Nope, that is why I didn't vote for either of them. McCain would have done the same thing as B.O.. The only thing different and in MY opinion better is, the military would be getting their proper raise and our National Security would not have been cut. I am glad to see Beck say that McCain was a poor choice too.
