Car seat question...

My son is almost 5 months old. He weighs @ 16-17 pounds. His car seat rf until 22 pounds and 29 inches tall. His straps are in the top holes and are below his shoulders. he hasnt reached the limits. Is it ok that the straps are below his shoulders? I will be switching to a convertible seat soon(of course still rf), but is it safe to continue with this seat until then?

  • i would say it depends on how far below his shoulders... if it is just barely, then it should be ok until you can get a new one, however, this doesn't mean a month from now... the sooner the better. If you are really unsure, stop by a State Police Station and ask them for a car-seat check. They will also tell you if it is installed properly for better saftey of your child.

  • As long as he has one inch of hard shell above his head he's ok.

  • Id go to the fire dept or police station and have them check it out. Just follow their recommendation.

  • Actually, while rear facing the straps should be in the slot BELOW the shoulders.. how many slots below his shoulders is it? If its more than one.. well, I would get one ASAP.. but if its only only slot below his shoulders, well, then it still fits perfect.
