How long does it take for the linea nigra to disappear after childbirth?

I am 3 months postpartum with my second. I don't remember how long it took to go away the first time, but it's still here. Just wondering how long it took everyone else's???

  • The reason for the development of the line is probably related to hormonal changes; after pregnancy, the linea nigra usually disappears. The darker your original skin color, the longer this will take, so it may take a year for the linea nigra to go away in some women.

  • It was gone by the time my first child was 6 months old, but with my 2nd...it was there for over a year.
