It is suggested that the totalitarian system is a phenomenon of the 20th century. As a political system with the demand that everything in public, and sometimes private, life is regulated by the state or the ruling element; all thought, religion, business, even the number of children.
At the heart of totalitarianism are the older ideas of tyranny, despotism or dictatorship, which are as old as the history of the human race. A totalitarian order or regime maintains its political hold through an officially adopted ideology, supported by propaganda delivered by state controlled mass media.
Thoughts? Please note that i did not state if i agree or disagree. I'm just curious about others perspectives. :)
