When you see this what are your thoughts?

You walk into a restaurant and see a couple sitting there eating, the woman has a yellow gold wedding set and the man has a white gold ring.

  • Chances are, I'm not looking at their hands, I'm looking at their food, trying to decide if it looks good!
Am I supposed to assume that they are married - just not to each other?

  • That the guy liked white gold, but the woman thought it looked too much like sterling silver and wanted a gold set.

  • I would think nothing of it and probably wouldnt even notice.

  • Would think that they are each wearing what they want as individuals.

  • If I noticed, I wouldn't think anything of it. My ring is completely different from my husbands.

  • I wouldn't notice, but if, for some reason, I did (lol, like if they were to point out their rings to me or something), I would just think that maybe they're like my inlaws. Their rings are different, because he wears his original wedding ring that they got married with, but her set had to be replaced, she developed this weird allergy to the metal.

So, they got her a new set. Her old ones, original ones, she has in her jewelry box. Then, a few yrs after that, when her mom died, she started wearing those instead, since the second set of rings didn't have any real sentimental value to her (not the rings she got married with, they were the replacement ones).

She wears her mom's rings as her wedding band, and he wears the original one they got married with. They've been happily married for 47 yrs now...

  • I probably wouldn't notice and if I did, I wouldn't think anything because I don't know them or their circumstances, so it's not my place or my business to judge.

  • Thanks ladies...The set I wear was what he proposed to me with and they are yellow. the ones I got married with were white gold because he wouldn't wear yellow. After some tough times, I quit wearing the rings we married with and went back to the originals as they have more meaning anyway.
