Bowel impactions & gum.

About how much gum consumption does that take? My almost two year old (that is as big as a three year old) consumed half a pack of my tea berry gum while I was doing laundry.

  • that's an old wives tale. Stomach acid breaks down gum. Seriously so does saliva. Ever chew once peice for a few hours? It starts to break down.

  • it won't do anything to the child, its just a fairy tale to keep kids that age from eatting it

  • Sounds like someone wants apple sauce with breakfast! Fruits will move anything out if you are worried.

  • pagirl74 - Stomach acids do not break down gum, but you are right that it is an old wive's tale. I wouldn't worry about you daughter, the gum will work its way out of her system within a few days.
