What is the meaning or point of a person living in California having Confederate flags outside of they're home?

What statement are they trying to make? We live in Northern California and a new neighbor has it up everywhere and he has never been anywhere down south.

  • Just make sure he doesn't have any Nascar stickers on his car. Also, keep any trucker hats away from him, he might be tempted to take them. And if he's got a mullet, keep him away from your kids! You don't want him influencing them negatively! And when he puts out his rusty lawn chairs, and leaves his Christmas lights up all year around, don't get mad at him. He doesn't know any better. :-p
    KIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!
He's probably just a racist bastard.

  • The Confederacy stood for states' rights, meaning a small weak federal government. Maybe they're trying to make a comment on current politics.

I agree! A confederate flag doesn't just mean ignorant, racist, southerner.  They very well could be trying to make a political statement concerning the current state of affairs in our country.

  • Chances are they're from a Southern State and are proud of their Heritage. The confederate flag isn't a sign of hate or racism it's a sign of heritage. Educate yourself before ASSuming anyone who hangs a confederate flag is racist or a "hillbilly"

You are no better than he is (If he was infact racist..) for ASSuming that he's racist just based on the sole fact that he flies a confederate flag. Judgmental much?
