Do you think women be more civil to eachother on this site if they could not post anonymously?

Sure, the anonymous option is great when we need advice on embarrassing or personal issues, so I am by no means suggesting that we do away with it. I am just curious what your thoughts are.

  • i tnhink if its something very personal its ookay to use. but some women up here are so darn mean they have to post anon

Answer by SweetiePieAfWf at 2:24 PM on Sep. 24, 2009

  • I really do, I think they should do away with the anon button.

Answer by jillisue808 at 2:24 PM on Sep. 24, 2009

  • absolutely. anon buttons should only be used for admittance of weird health issues or abusive relationships

Answer by staciandababy at 2:25 PM on Sep. 24, 2009

  • yes, i think they would

Answer by missanc at 2:26 PM on Sep. 24, 2009

  • Nope, I've seen some just be plain mean without it. Some just started to use it because they didn't like the mail thay got when they were mean. Or they just block everybody that doesn't agree with them.

  • Even if some women were still mean, at least more of them would follow the "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" guideline.

  • No. I've seen lots of woman post very rude things even without the anon button. And really, even if i dont agree with those women, i applaud them for being able to so bluntly and rudely speak their minds AND deal with the social responses that come with it.

  • I only click 'Anon' if I'm saying something I don't want my friends to know about - LOL. I sometimes think about clicking it when I'm saying something I disagree with but then I think, "No. It's MY opinion and I support it and should not be afraid to show my face. So what if people don't agree with me."
Yes, I think women would be more civil. Less BS would get started by people just saying random hurtful things also. I can understand it's function but I also think if you're going to say something, be 'woman' enough to show your face and if it's your opinion, show your face and SUPPORT it.

  • I always answer questions friendly and honestly. I like helping others, but i have personal reasons for going anonymous. If there was no anonymous selection, I believe you would still get rude response. I worked in a building with 250 women and just a few guys. It could get pretty scary at times. Women don't hold things back, on computer or off.

  • There has also been a problem with a few women who post rude comments anonymously on anonymous questions, claiming to be the original poster when they are not.
