rectal temp 100.0 is that bad?

She is 5 months and also has a runny stuffy nose and a little cough . She seems really tired and doesnt really want to eat ( she has been tho just not as much)
I have an appointment first thing in the morning but I was just wondering if it was a bad temp?

  • It's not a bad temp. Just give her plenty of formula or breastmilk. Give her some baby tylenol. The number of a fever isn't really anything to get concerened over....even if it's 103, so long as she's acting fine and not lethargic. The doctor should ease your fears tomorrow.

  • rectal is always higher than reg. temp. take an axillary and see what that is.

  • No, rectal temps are a degree higher. A temp of 99 can be normal for a baby. She sounds like she has a cold or virus. Just give her lots of water and lots of hugs. Use a humidifier if she is coughing and stuffy.

  • it is. but just make sure it doesnt go up any more. U should check every hour. but not her poor but put it in her arm pit. give her a cool bath and she how that helps. if it goes down and up down and up u should take her in to the er. (thats what my dr said)
