  • Thank god for C sections, I would die, probably look for an NFL contract!! I am curious how this does happen, do you know if she had diabetes?

  • My mother had a 12lb natural birth with my brother. The fear that it was genetic was my greatest nightmare during my 2 pregnancies. Thankfully they were both under 10 lbs (my son way 9 lbs 10 3/4oz)

  • My daughter weighed over nine pounds, and was nearly two feet long, and I had her the natural way! I cannot imagine having a nineteen pound child!

  • My supposed no larger then 9 pound baby was over 11 pounds at birth w/o gestational diabetes. I would be upset my doctor allowed my baby to get to 19lbs. Is that even healthy for a newborn to get that big?

Answer by mom-2-4boys at 6:24 PM on Sep. 24, 2009

  • My mom had a 13 lb baby by c-section and I had a 10 lb baby vaginally - they were wearing 3 month old clothes when they were born!
I imagine this mom of the 19 lb baby had to go out to buy 6 month old clothing and quickly buy bigger sizes because newborns grow quickly.
I wish her many blessings and pray that the child grows up to be healthy.
By the way, the large child my mom had and that I had are thin adults, strong, intelligent, and athletic. No anomolies at all. My mom had diabetes and I had GD.
