  • Depends on the street. I was walking to school by myself and crossing 3 reasonably quiet streets by myself at age 6 but I wasn't allowed to cross the main road in town alone till I was 12 or so which was ridiculous, most kids got to cross that one at about 9 or 10, but my mother was totally paranoid.

  • depends on the kid, but i would say 8 or older. After mom/dad talked with the child about the dangers of the road. Of course I'm talking about a small neighborhood street Not a major street.
I think even older kids need an adult to cross a major street.

  • I just started allowing my 10 yr old to cross the street as long as I know when, where, and with which friend. It's something she has to ask to do every time.
