  • Home made frosting is the best! you'll love it an of course its edible.
1 stick of real butter melt in a pan on stove
add powdered sugar, a cup or two to the texture you want your frosting.
    1 tsp vanilla
    A little milk
    Add coloring
for cream cheese frosting you just add 1 block of cream cheese to this recipe. Its super easy & yum!

  • Buy a can of vanilla fosting and green food dye, add a few drops, mix well and add more a drop or 2 at a time and mix till you get the shade of green you want. WAY easier than making it from scratch.

  • I've made cones from paper and then frosted them for evergreen trees. You can also frost the large marshmallows for bushes....OR you can make Rice Krispie treats, add green food coloring to your marshmallow/butter mixture before adding the cereal and then form the Krispie treats while still very warm into tree or bush shapes.

To get a truer green color for trees/bushes, I'd recommend paste food coloring, available where cake decorating supplies are found. It doesn't thin the frosting no matter how much you use.

  • Here is the buttercream icing recipe I most frequently use. It is very good! You can add any flavor you like. The combo we like best is vanilla and almond extract and butter flavoring. Use a sugar cone (they are the triangular ones with a sharp point at the end) they look great if you pipe the icing on.

    Buttercream Icing
1 stick salted butter, softened, at room temp (not melted)
    1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 lb. 10x powdered sugar, sifted
    2 t. vanilla extract
    1/2 t. almond extract (optional)
    1/2 t. butter flavoring
    1-2 T. milk

Cream together the softened butter and Crisco. Add the powdered sugar in two batches, beating after each. It will be stiff. Add flavorings and milk, 1 T. at a time until desired consistency. Add coloring of choice. Paste colors are recommended (not liquid).
