  • i would personally pump enough so that he has enough until you clean out your system! pump and dump seems safest

  • pump enough to feed him while youre gone. if you are sober enough to drive, theres no need to pump and dump.

  • pump, every free chance you get and freeze it. Stock up!!!!
then feed him right b4 you leave for the party. Wear some breast pads so you dont leak and call it a night!

  • If your worried about alcohol, as long as you don't get smashed, it's fine. Just nurse him before you drink, and by the time he's ready to nurse again you should be fine.

  • Alcohol leaves your breast milk at the same rate it leaves your blood. So if you pump and dump, and you're still drunk, all that's going to do is waste milk and produce more alcohol laden milk. Where as if you wait until you're sober, you're perfectly safe to nurse. Safe to drive=safe to nurse. Or 2 hours per drink. But if you only have, say a beer, you could be fine to nurse shortly after.

  • I know what's best. Pump and dump to get rid of alcohol doesn't work. Breasts do not store alcohol. There will be alcohol in the milk you make for a feeding similar to the amount that is in your blood. As your blood alcohol goes down, the alcohol that would be in the milk you make would go down.

If you only have a drink or two you can still breastfeed. Some babies will notice a change in the taste of the milk. If you have more you can wait like Arisce explains above.

  • i just wouldnt drink...some "experts" say the breasts don't get alcohol in them, some "experts" say it does...i just wouldn't risk it...if you do drink i would pump and dump, just pump a bunch BEFORE you go to the party so your baby has some stored up to drink from a bottle the day after the party...pump and dump just seems safer to me

  • I wouldn't drink either... i mean seriously that is the choice that comes with breastfeeding! It's safer to not have to worry about it. Stick with your choice to breastfeed instead of drink.

  • What's best? Don't drink. You can still go to a party and not drink.

    Baby first.

  • Or . . . you could go to the party and not get trashed. Just a thought!
