Albany, Ny.... Anyone Know Where Low-Income Families Can Get Free Carseats?

  • WIC gives carseats, so if you are low income and qualify you should get a carseat. goodl luck

  • I'm not quite sure on this one. I know a friend of mine was able to get one through her pregnancy medicaid office. You can probably give WIC a shot too - they're actually incredibly helpful.
    If you don't mind used, but in good condition you can also check out - they have pretty nice carseats ranging in various prices. Just make sure it has never been in an accident is the most important.

  • The problem with a used carseat, unless you know the people selling it, is that you don't KNOW that it hasn't been in an accident, or been stored in the garage all summer long and all winter long. Extreme temps effect the use of the seat. Also you don't know if the straps have been immersed in water, which greatly effects the condition of the straps.

    Check with the hospital you are delivering at. There are some that give carseats available for families who can't afford them. Or check with the health dept. Good luck.
