carseat installation

i have a carseat that i have been trying to install in my car. my SO and i have been trying to figure it out and have no clue. can i bring it to the police department to have them help figure it out or do they just inspect it once its set up?

  • Where I am, only the police department will do it. ANd you have to call and make an appointment so a person who is trained can be there. Give 'em a call and if they can't do it, they can recommend someone who can.

  • Not every fire department and police station has someone who is certified car seat tech.

  • You can call to see if they will, but I know our local police and fire departments are certified for seat installation and inspection, which is awesome.
    You can also call your local auto insurance dealer to see if they have a certified installer, too. Our local Geiko insurance has a few and you don't have to be a purchaser of the insurance. They just ask that you sit through a 20 minute video of the carseat laws, installation, and which seats are appropriate for your child. It's a very informative video.
