my 14 month old son has a 102.2 fever, along with come and go diarhea, coughing, irritability, tiredness, loss of appetite, it teething or could it be something else?

his doc is an hour and a half away because no one was accepting new patients but i was wondering if it could be teething...he would be working on his canines and his molars for one or two of each is already showing...

  • 102.2 fever, diarhea, loss of appetite (for more than a day) is NOT teething. Coughing, irritability, and drooling are signs of teething. But the fever...definately not. Anything over 100 is an illness. If your doctor can't see you, i would go to the ER. Hope your baby is better soon.

  • Have you given him tylenol or motrin for the fever? if so, has it gone down when you do? If not, take him to the doctors or the ER.

  • well i would be nervous about the flu ... my son had fever and tiredness and loss of appetite, and i am nervous about the flu because he has had respiratory problems in the past, so i took him to the doctor, exposed him to all kinds of sick kids :( and he did not have the flu (but i wouldn't be too surprised if he gets it now after being around all those sick kids :(

  • Tiredness and loss of appetite is not part of teething and usually with teething you only have a few symptoms. When you have them all, its probably something else.

  • Yeah, 102 fever is high for teething. I'd make a doctor's appointment.
