  • I have a 10 month old. My oldest has autism, so I'm keeping a VERY close eye on my baby. I talked to a developmental specialist a couple days ago and she was a little concerned that he is not turning his head when I call his name. The information I have is that between 6-12 months a baby should understand their name.

  • the first poster has the right time frame, anywhere between 6 and 12 months, sometimes sooner sometimes a little later. my son is 4 months and doesn't recognize his name yet, my daughter did around 8 months.

  • My daugher and son both knew their names at around 6-7 months. Some parents confuse kids by calling them nick names all the time or by not sayin their name enough so some kids are a lil different depending on their parents. My son is 10 months and u say his name at any time he looks u say his nick names at any givin time he looks. my daughter was the same exact way. she will ignore you now bc shes two old is ur baby btw
