I have a 10 month old. My oldest has autism, so I'm keeping a VERY close eye on my baby. I talked to a developmental specialist a couple days ago and she was a little concerned that he is not turning his head when I call his name. The information I have is that between 6-12 months a baby should understand their name.
the first poster has the right time frame, anywhere between 6 and 12 months, sometimes sooner sometimes a little later. my son is 4 months and doesn't recognize his name yet, my daughter did around 8 months.
My daugher and son both knew their names at around 6-7 months. Some parents confuse kids by calling them nick names all the time or by not sayin their name enough so some kids are a lil different depending on their parents. My son is 10 months and u say his name at any time he looks u say his nick names at any givin time he looks. my daughter was the same exact way. she will ignore you now bc shes two lol......how old is ur baby btw
