Braxton Hicks every 10 minutes...

I am 36 weeks pregnant. 2 nights ago I went to my hospital because I was having braxton hicks every 5-10 minutes. I know braxton hicks can be caused sometimes by dehydration, but I drink about a gallon of water of day. They hooked me up to the machines to monitor the hicks....they were very painful. After 2 hours they sent me home because I was still only dialated at 1cm.

Since then I have still been having painful BH every 10 minutes or so...they are driving me nuts!!! With my last 2 pregnancies I got them maybe 4 times a day.....but not 6 times an hour like this one. Has anyone ever got them this much?

  • I did. Not constantly, but after exercise or walking or even just laying in bed sometimes (I was on bedrest for 6 weeks at the end of my pregnancy) I would have them every 2 minutes or so. After about an hour they would slow down, but I had TONS of BHCs through the last half of my pregnancy.

  • Your uterus is "practicing"... try taking a walk, a nice long shower or bath... drink something other than water if you haven't tried that (decaf herbal tea, juice), get a massage from your partner.. and here is an article with more ideas:
